The North Carolina state trooper who died unexpectedly last week will be laid to rest today.
Thirty-one-year-old Brandon Peterson collapsed at his Yancey County home on April 7th. It's still not clear what caused his death, but autopsy results are pending. Back in March, Mothers Against Drunk Driving named Peterson "Highway Patrolman of the Year."
A funeral is set for this afternoon at 4 o'clock at Mitchell High School in Spruce Pine.
