What's Not To Like About Kenny Perry?!?
Tuesday 07-22-2008 6:18pm ET

It’s Monday and as I review the PGA Tour golf results from this past weekend I find that Kenny Perry has once again almost claimed another victory this year. This is his best run in more than two decades. After losing in a classic playoff at the AT&T Classic he went on to win at the Memorial and the Buick Open. By placing sixth he almost had his fourth victory in six starts. Pretty strong!

Here's the problem. Perry has gotten slack because he did not play in the U.S. Open and has skipped this past week's British Open. He honored a commitment to play in Milwaukee this past weekend. If you follow golf you know that this year's Ryder Cup will be played in Louisville, Kentucky, Perry's home. He has a strong commitment and his goal is to make the U.S. squad (which he will be selected) and bring back the Ryder Cup to the United States.

The traditional decision for the top players is to play all the majors and skip the "smaller" events. BUT, Kenny is doing it his way and I, for one, applaud him.

So, let’s not judge Perry for what you think he should do. Support his commitment for the Red, White and Blue. Something we all need to do more of, in these tough times.

Does Tiger's injury really matter to you?
Thursday 07-10-2008 5:19pm ET

We all followed the U.S.Open this year with Tiger playing injured went to a 5th day and 19 holes to defeat Rocco Mediate . It surely was a playoff to remember. I could not help but to root for Rocco but when it was over I was satisfied to watch Tiger win his 14th major.

We watched him in pain over the 5 days and I thought "What a performance". Now, it really is amazing what he did.

He will not play for the rest of 2008. He will not compete in the Ryder Cup this year. AND, he will not have an opportunity to move closer to the great Jack Nicklaus in major victories this year.

My question is; will you follow golf the rest of the year without Tiger Woods?

We did a feature on Speaking of Golf about the economic impact without Tiger. It is amazing the number of people who follow Tiger; not just golf. I think it is sad that there will be a decline of spectators at tournaments and less viewers watching the PGA Tour on TV. People, have you seen the amazing talent there is on the Tour. Take, Anthony Kim, this kid is the real deal. How about Hunter Mahan? Mt point is; Let's give the rest of the players out there some respect. Who knows, maybe there is another youngster trying to qualify every week that might get his chance without Tiger in the field. AND, he just might be the guy who may be better than Tiger.
